 May13-22, 2018

Please join us this coming Spring for a watercolor journey through some of the most wonderful parts of the British Isles. You'll have daily watercolor sketching lessons, visits to museums, castles, gardens and quaint towns as well as the two very renowned English cities of Bath and Oxford.

Here is your itinerary:  Imagine yourselves strolling down lanes, viewing the beautiful villages and idyllic country side and walking along the paths between villages filled with honey color stone cottages and pubs.

Are you in the countryside now? Come back and read the info below. Email me at anywhereart4u@gmail.com with your reservation.

Please email me as soon as possible if you want to join our tour.  English hotels must know by Oct. 31 if we are coming.  A $500 deposit will reserve your spot and is refundable until we have enough people signed up and the trip is called a "go".

Day 1   Fly into Manchester Airport and be met by our driver/guide in our personal van and drive along the North Wales coastline. You'll stay in the town of Conway which has an amazing castle overlooking the water that we will explore and paint.

Day 2  You will explore some of the small villages in North Wales like Betwsy-y-coed and take the train up Mount Snowdon to see breathtaking views. Paint in the afternoon and enjoy dinner in one of the local pubs or restaurants.

Day 3  Journey through Wales observing the rolling hills and lush valleys as we make our way south east through market towns to the fabulous Cotswolds. The Cotswolds area is full of charming villages in the English countryside filled with honey colored buildings, gardens, churches and thatched roofed cottages that are perfect for painting. You will stay in a lovely 4 star hotel in the heart of the village of Slaughter.

Day 4  We spend a relaxed day strolling thru the village, exploring and discovering the most amazing sites to paint. Perhaps you'll lunch at the local pub and take a walk through the countryside in the afternoon.

Day 5  You'll leisurely enjoy a delicious breakfast and then explore some of the wonderful local villages like Chipping Campden, Burton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold with a local walking guide.  You'll also visit the beautiful gardens of Hidcote Manor.

Day 6  We visit Bath in the South, the city made famous by Jane Austen. We'll enjoy a short walking tour to get our bearings and then explore the city on our own, perhaps visiting the Roman baths and some of the locations Jane enjoyed. Dinner will be back at our 4 star home in the Cotswolds.

Day 7  Continue your explorations of our home village and have time for leisurely painting and perhaps a visit to the local pub or a walk through the countryside.

Day 8  You will depart from your home in the Cotswolds to journey to Oxford. The city that is known for its University and home to royalty and scholars for over 800 years. You'll take a walking tour with a local guide and then be free to explore the city and paint what beguiles you. That evening you will spend the last night of your workshop/tour in the city of Chester. This evening we will enjoy a wonderful farewell dinner.

Day 9  Your tour ends after breakfast! You will either depart to Manchester Airport for your return flight or continue your trip with more exploration to your choice of destinations.

My dream on my first workshop to the Cotswolds (several years ago)  was to paint a thatched cottage with my students. We stood found this someone's home in a beautiful thatched cottage in the village of Dorchester on Thames and we stood out in front of it and painted it.  The lady next door came out and asked us if we would like to see the inside of her English cottage. So we were able to go inside and see what the inside of an English cottage looks like. A wonderful travel memory was made.  If you can come along on the tour described above, we will find a thatched cottage to paint and hopefully, a sweet lady to invite us inside as well.
